Make August 16th - Tipperary Day
The build-up to the All Ireland Final is always special. Everyone in the county is going around in a good mood, knowing they will be part of one of the biggest days in Irish sport in three weeks.
Then there is the quest for the precious All Ireland ticket, a pressurised one but a chase supporters love to have nonetheless.
Then there is the Supporters Evening at training in Thurles that Tipperary will host this evening (Wednesday) from 7-9pm, the only opportunity for the fans to meet and greet the players before they go into virtual conclave for two and a half weeks, building up to the Kilkenny game.
Such was the level of spirit in the Tipperary performance against Wexford, the bond between players and supporters has never been as strong as it is now.
There will be many events taking place around the county as the big day on August 18th approaches and we at the Nenagh Guardian are playing our part by making the last Friday before the final (August 16th) – Tipperary Day – where all staff are to wear Tipperary colours into work, and we are calling on all businesses in the county to allow their staff to do so, plus the general public as well, to wear the blue and gold with pride on that day, to add a little more to the build-up to the big match against Kilkenny.
I am at a wedding that day (with many Kilkenny extended family members attending), with a blue shirt and a yellow tie ready to go. What about you?
