Nenagh discount store plan ruled out by council

Plans to develop a new discount foodstore on a site opposite the Civic Offices at Limerick Road, Nenagh, have been turned down by Tipperary County Council.

The retail multiples Tesco and Dunnes Stores had lodged objections to the plans which were submitted by the Cork based Planning Partnership on behalf of the executor of the site, Ciaran Harte.

The developers had planned to demolish a fire damaged two-storey house on the site and develop a licensed foodstore with parking for 100 cars.

In its decision, the council said the development would not be in accordance with planning policy as set out in Retail Planning Guidelines attached to the town's development plan.
