Portumna farm up for auction
A 340 acre farm at Derryhiney, Portumna – once owned by the legendary National Farmers Association leader Rickard Deasy – will go under the hammer on Wednesday, November, 12th.
The Irish Independent reports that the farm comes to market with a guide price of €2.5m, or €7,500 an acre.
Included as part of the sale is a single storey semi-derelict cottage and a wonderful cutstone yard in a courtyard setting, with a modern yard to the rear, including slatted floor shed for 120 cattle.
The late Mr Deasy, a champion of farmers' rights, and who lived at Carrigahorig in North Tipperary, owned the Portumna farm in the 1950s.
