Nenagh park reopens after flooding
Nenagh's new town park reopened on Sunday after being closed for two days when the river burst its banks.
The park was one of many local areas hit by flooding during sustained periods of heavy rainfall last week. Nenagh Municipal District Council had to close the park on Friday after the river came right up to the path, prompting renewed fears for the safety of people using the new amenity.
But the park was reopened on Sunday after water levels subsided again. The council's local Director of Services Marcus O'Connor inspected the site over the weekend and said no damage was caused by the flooding. He said there is no question of imposing a long-term closure of the park due to the flood risk.
