Awardwinning german film screens at arts centre
The comedy ‘Oh Boy’ was directed by Jan-Ole Gerster and won five German Film Academy Awards in 2013. This is Gerster’s debut film - created for his thesis at the German Film and Television Academy and as such, suggests a young director of some skill.
The comedy chronicles one day and one night in the life of Niko, a young man who has dropped out of university and doesn't have a job. He drifts aimlessly through contemporary Berlin while encountering a range of characters along the way. Niko is played by Tom Schilling who recently featured in a starring role in the German TV series ‘Generation War’ which drew controversy and acclaim in equal measure.
Admission for ‘Oh Boy’ is €5 and the screening is supported by the Goethe Institute. Tickets can be booked in advance from Nenagh Arts Centre on 067 34400, online at www.nenagharts.com or purchased at the door on screening night at 8pm this Thursday November 27th.
