Nenagh christmas lights to be switched on
The festive spirit will envelop Nenagh this Sunday when the Christmas lights will be officially switched on to mark the Yuletide season.
Nenagh Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with Tipperary County Council have joined forces to create a real Christmas atmosphere in the town to mark the 5pm switching-on ceremony at Banba Square.
Members of the local Gaelscoil choir will be present to sign carols while the Tipp FM outside broadcast unit will play seasonal favourites.
Chairman of the council, Councillor Michael Fitzgerald, will perform the official ceremony which will also be attended by some of the Tipperary All Star hurlers.
The lights will provide the perfect atmosphere for what town centre traders are hoping will be a good trading season.
As in previous years, the chamber, now under its new President Denis Finnerty, is urging everyone to shop local this year and support local businesses that have contributed to make the town centre look absolutely wonderful this year.
Shops will be open every Sunday between now and Christmas to facilitate shoppers and the county council is introducing free parking incentives.
