Road works to take place at latteragh
A winding stretch of dangerous road that runs beside the Nenagh River in the townland of Latteragh on the main Nenagh-Thurles route is to undergo improvement works, it emerged this week.
Environment Minister Alan Kelly confirmed to this newspaper that the stretch is included as part of a €16.3m package for road works endorsed by the government.
Subsidence occurred on the road in recent months, blocking the Thurles-Nenagh route, forcing drivers to divert and adding to the journey time between the two main towns the north of the county.
'I am delighted to announce that the upgrade of Latteragh Road is included in this funding,' said Minister Kelly, who also revealed that funds have been set aside as part of the package for work at Lismalin Bridge, near Ballingarry in the north of the county.
