Feile Hurling: Action in Feile switches to Hurling this weekend with the North semi-finals and finals in both 'A' and 'B' grades being hosted by Borris-Ileigh. First up we have Silvermines v Lorrha/Shannon Rovers in the only 'B' semi-final at 12 midday with the winners meeting Newport Gaels at 1pm in the final. Then at 2pm, in the 'A' semi-finals we have Borris-Ileigh v Kilruane and Nenagh Eire Óg v Toomevara. The 'A' final takes place 3pm. Our two winners will progress to the County semi-finals and finals on Saturday, 2nd May with the County 'B' winners travelling to Ulster in June. The County 'A' winners will participate in Munster Regional blitzes.
Under 12 Football: In the 'A' grade, Inane Rovers have played all their pool games and top the group with 4 wins from 4. Going into the final round this Friday, Ballina and Silvermines look to have qualified with Nenagh Eire Og and Toomevara watching other results.
In the 'B' grade, Burgess and Moneygall top their respective groups with all other teams having a possibility of qualifying.
Meanwhile in 'C' grade, all four teams are level with two points each although Ballina have two games left. Clubs are struggling to compete in the 'D' grade and we will have to examine thoroughly to see if it will be feasable to run a 'D' competition in hurling. Please note that the U12 semi-finals will take place the weekend of May 1/2/3rd with the North Finals the following weekend ie May 8/9/10th.
Under 14 Football: The U14 football championship began last week with Inane Rovers beating Kilruane, 2-12 to 2-1 and Nenagh Eire Óg overcoming Borrisokane, 2-6 to 0-3 in the 'A' grade. On Monday evening, Nenagh Eire Og and Lorrha/Shannon Rovers Gaels played out an exciting 3-6 each draw in Lorrha while on Wednesday, Inane Rovers take on Borrisokane.
In the 'B' grade, Burgess beat Moneygall/Clonakenny and Toomevara failed to field v Borris-Ileigh. In round 2 this Wednesday, we have Newport Gaels v Portroe, Ballina v Silvermines, Burgess v Templederry and Borris-Ileigh v Monegall/Clonakenny. The North semi-finals are fixed for May 20th with the quarter finals the previous week.
Under 16 Football: On Monday evening, Nenagh Eire Og recorded a big win away to Ballina in 'A' grade and with four from six qualifying, they along with Inane and Kilruane look safe. Next weeks final round game between Borrisokane and Ballina will decide the final semi-final slot.
Meanwhile in the 'B' grade, Moneygall/Clonakenny continue to impress with a strong finish versus Silvermines whilst Lorrha/Shannon Rovers Gaels picked up a much needed win away over Burgess. Tuesdays game between Newport and Kildangan will be central to deciding which four teams go through. The final round next week with one outstanding game between Newport Gaels and Burgess remaining. The North semi-finals are fixed for Monday week, 27th April followed by the North final the following weekend. The U16's will then avail of their exam break, starting Monday May 4th.
