Schools get ready for cow day

This Wednesday, June 17th, schools around Ireland will take part in An Taisce Green-Schools’ National C.O.W Day (Cycle on Wednesday/Weekdays) with the aim of having over 5,000 students cycling to school.

National COW Day is one of Bike Week 2015’s main events as students, families and teachers are encouraged to travel to school by sustainable and active modes of transport.

National Bike Week follows An Taisce Green-Schools National Walk to School Week, which took place from May 11th to 15th and featured National WOW Day (Walk on Wednesdays/Weekdays). An Taisce Green-Schools is proud to announce that 40,200 students walked all or part of the way to school on National WOW Day, making this year’s count one of our most successful yet!

This year many schools are in process of receiving fully-funded cycle parking infrastructure from An Taisce Green-Schools. During Bike Week 2015 many schools will officially open their cycle parking. Please find a list of schools below in receipt of cycle parking from An Taisce. This year Green-Schools is also trialling the installation of scooter parking for schools, with Oatlands Primary School in Stillorgan, Dublin receiving the first trial installation of parking pods.
