Nenagh peace talk marks gaza bombing

The local group Nenagh Friends of Palestine is hosting a public talk and candlelit vigil this Friday, August 14th, at 7.30pm at Nenagh Arts Centre to mark the victims of the 51-day shelling of Gaza, July 8th to August 26th 2014.

The war killed 2,251 Palestinians and 73 Israelis, destroyed major infrastructure, and displaced 28 per cent of the population in Gaza.
The talk will feature Irish human rights activists Derek and Jenny Graham, who have been living and working in Gaza for the past four years. They will talk about their personal experiences of living and working in Gaza before the shelling last year, about the current situation, and their work as activists.
According to Jenny Tellstrom, one of the event organisers, “We are also happy to welcome Israeli peace activist and psychotherapist Marcia Kreisel, who is currently living in the Galilee, in northern Israel. She will speak about her peace building work with Israelis and Palestinians over 28 years, during the different phases of the conflict. Marcia has worked both in Israel and inside the West Bank, and uses meditation in her work.”
The talk will take place on Friday August 14th at 7.30pm in the Nenagh Arts Centre, and will be followed by a candle vigil in honour of the victims who died, including 551 children. There is no entrance fee and all are welcome.
