Limerick charity cup to kick off rugby season
The senior rugby season commences next week with the Limerick Charity Cup kicking off on Monday, 24th August in Dooradoyle.
Garryowen and UL Bohemian will host the two opening matches taking on fellow Limerick clubs Thomond and Bruff.
On Tuesday, 25th August, Shannon host Old Crescent in Coonagh and the following evening, Wednesday, 26th August Nenagh Ormond entertain Young Munster at New Ormond Park.
The competition is well supported every year by the general rugby public whose gate proceeds are donated to various charities.
This year donations will be made to Milford Hospice, the IRFU Charitable Trust and the Redemptorist Fathers Christmas Poor Campaign.
The semi-finals are scheduled to take place on the 1st & 2nd September with the following draw.
Tuesday, 1st September: Nenagh Ormond/ Young Munster v UL Bohemian/Bruff at 7pm
Wednesday, 2nd September: Shannon/Old Crescent v Garryowen/Thomond at 7pm
The competition promises a feast of rugby with an opportunity to make a significant contribution to local charities ahead of the upcoming Ulster Bank League.
