Bomb disposal unit called in to alan kellys nenagh office
Members of the Army Bomb Disposal Unit and Gardaí were called to the Nenagh constituency office of the Environment Minister Alan Kelly on Friday morning after a suspicious package was found in his post.
Members of the Unit arrived at the office along with gardai close to lunchtime. They have since declared the substance in the package a hoax.
The package contained a suspicious looking white powder, leading staff at the office to contact gardai. A note of a threatening nature was also enclosed in the package.
The minister was not in the office at the time. He has described the action as deeply disturbing. He said the note made references to threatening him, his family and is staff.
This is not the first time the minister has received threats at his office. Late last year a caller to the Summerhill office threatened to kill the minister and his staff and a bomb threat was also made.
