Packed programme for dromineer literary festival
The festival kicks off on Thursday, October 1st when Peter Sheridan's one-man play, '44 Seville Place', will stage in the Nenagh Arts Centre at 8pm.
The play, performed by Sheridan himself, is his account of his fabulous and heart-breaking childhood, which, according to the Sunday Independent, ‘celebrates the idea of the family in all its chaotic wonder’.
The Arts Centre will also be the venue on Friday, October 2nd at 8pm for an evening of poetry with the internationally acclaimed poets, George Szirtes, Pascale Petit andBilly Ramsell, while another poet, Thomas McCarthy, will chair the event. Breda Wall Ryan will open the poetry evening with three poems from her debut collection In A Hare’s Eye (Doire Press).
Saturday, October 3rd at 4pm in Lough Derg Yacht Club in Dromineer will see readings by three gifted poets Breda Wall Ryan, Victoria Kennefick and Maeve O’Sullivan.
Among the other highlights will be recitations of Irish love poems through the ages with Ailbhe Ní Ghearbhuigh and Caitríona Ní Chléirchín. This event will take place on Sunday, October 4th, in Nenagh Castle at 4pm.
It will be chaired by David McAvinchey and will also feature harpist, Laura Hogan.
