Land and sea exhibition at nenagh library
For the month of October, Nenagh Library hosts 'Land and Sea', an exhibition of paintings by sisters Kate and Joan Walsh as well as mosaics and felt applique by Claire Brennan.
Kate and Joan have always enjoyed painting but it is only in recent years that they have begun to focus on painting in a serious manner. While Kate is particularly interested in painting seascapes, inspired by the colours of the ever-changing sky and sea, she has in recent months begun to paint landscapes. Kate teaches art privately to children (8-12 years) and some of their work is also on exhibit.
Joan enjoys painting both seascapes and landscapes and she is inspired by the colours of autumn and the effects of sunlight and moonlight on landscape. Joan has previously exhibited in Roscrea Library and both have sold their work privately. This is the first time they have exhibited together.
Claire Brennan is a craft worker and works with felt applique as well as designing and creating mosaics. There are examples of both on display. Claire will make mosaics to order, incorporating items which have a specific meaning to the person who has commissioned the piece. Felt applique pieces can also be made to order. Exhibition will run until the end of October.
