Felix Yonger, Days Hotel and Twinlight head entries for Kerry Group Hilly Way Chase at Cork
Felix Yonger and Days Hotel, first and third in the race last year, head an entry of ten horses for the Grade 2 Kerry Group Hilly Way Chase at Cork on Sunday.
Willie Mullins is responsible for four entries, including Felix Yonger who made a promising return to action when finishing third behind Road To Riches in the Grade 2 Clonmel Oil Chase last month. The champion trainer has also put Mozoltov, Twinlight, the 2013 winner, and Un De Sceaux in the €47,500 event.
Days Hotel won the race in 2012 and he looks set to represent trainer Henry de Bromhead while Gordon Elliott can choose between his Grade 1 winner Clarcam and Bright New Dawn who was runner up to Road To Riches at Clonmel.
Trainer Philip Dempsey has put his fine mare Jacksonslady in the race while Louise Hallahan and Andrew Lee have entered Toon River and Toubaloo respectively.
The Grade 3 Kerry Group Stayers Hurdle has also attracted an entry of ten, including the Willie Mullins-trained Gangster, a winner over hurdles at both Roscommon and Listowel. Gordon Elliott has entered both his impressive Clonmel winner Jetstream Jack and Cogryhill while another interesting contender in the €32,500 event would be Damut, the winner of his last four starts, including two at Cork.
Seven entries have been received for the €37,000 Grade 3 Kerry Group EBF Mares Novice Chase including Gordon Elliott’s recent Fairyhouse winner Miss Dinamic and the Mick Winters-trained Perfect Woman, another that has been successful on each of her last four starts.
Mary Kelly, Cork Racecourse Sales and Marketing Manager, said, “Kerry Group day is always one of our bigger meetings at Cork racecourse and we could not be happier with how things are shaping up for Sunday. The Grade 2 Kerry Group Hilly Way Chase definitely has a competitive look to it and the same can be said about our Grade 3 novice hurdle and the Grade 3 mares’ novice chase.”
