Realignment of Nenagh-Thurles road
Consultants engaged by Nenagh Municpal District Council are considering a number of potential routes for a realignment of the R498 Nenagh-Thurles road at Latteragh.
Director Marcus O'Connor informed a recent meeting of the council that the project focuses on a 4km stretch of road from Young's pub to beyond the bends at Latteragh. There has been extensive engagement on the proposals, including discussions with the Ormond Anglers and An Taisce, Mr O'Connor said. The options include using the hillside for a roadway or crossing the river.
Councillors called for top priority for the Latteragh scheme, fearing that a fatal accident is likely to occur on the dangerous stretch of road.
