Youghal Quay on Lough Derg engulfed by flooding
The Christmas Day Swim at Youghal Quay is only two weeks away, but currently the scene is under water.
The after effects of Storm Desmond can be seen here in our photographs taken at the Quay at Lough Derg near Nenagh on Thursday afternoon.
Increased water levels resulting from the torrential rain during last weekend's storm has left the lake rising to close to the levels seen in the last deluge to hit the country in November 2009.
As can be seen, the water from the lake has encroached onto the public roadway by a distance of about 30 metres. As flood alerts continue for the River Shannon, the water level of the lake is set to increase until at least Sunday or Monday.
