Funding boost for Newport
Newport looks set for a major boost with potentially up to €1 million projected to be invested in infrastructural and amenity improvements in the town.
Local Labour Party TD and Environment Minister Alan Kelly revealed this week that up to €1 million in public funding will be invested in the locality under a plan he commissioned to tackle issues in areas impacted by population changes caused by the Limerick regeneration project.
The regeneration has impacted in particular on communities in counties Limerick, Clare and Tipperary, mainly in the Newport area in the Premier County. Now the Limerick Hinterlands Report identifies funding that is needed to address the consequent population changes, with Newport set to greatly benefit.
