Planning granted for Nenagh school and playing pitch
St Mary's Secondary School in Nenagh has received planning permission for an extension to the Ashe Road school.
The school's board of management recently received permission for the construction of a two-storey extension accommodating two additional classrooms and a music drama room. The plan also involves the demolition of two existing external sheds within the curtilage of the former prison building (a Protected Structure) and in their place the construction of a single storey extension accommodating relocated kitchen/student dining facilities and yard area. Ancillary site development works including the reorganisation of existing hard and soft landscaping layout, installation of new enclosed hardsurface playing courts, and all associated site services and development works, are also included in the plan.
Tipperary Co Council has attached a number of conditions to the permission.
Meanwhile the council has also granted planning permission for a new playing pitch in Nenagh.
Nenagh AFC (Brickfields Ltd) has received conditional permission to construct a new artificial grass playing pitch, flood lighting system, protective netting and all ancillary site works at Bulfin Road. The council requires the lighting to be erected by a suitably qualified lighting specialist. The lighting is to be directed and cowled to reduce the light scatter outside the site. Should the planning authority receive complaints about light spillage from neighbouring properties, the operator of the facility will be required to take steps to address the issue. The council has also stipulated that the lighting shall not operate outside the hours of 9pm and 8am.
