Gaza Academic to Launch Palestine Election Pledge
The founder of Gaza Society Voice Foundation, Dr Ibrahim Natil will launch the Palestine Election Pledge initiative Friday February 12th in Nenagh Pastoral Centre at 7.30pm. Organised by local group, Nenagh Friends of Palestine, the initiative asks each Tipperary candidate running in the election to endorse a pledge in support for Palestine. The group has asked the candidates to commit to the Irish government formally recognising a Palestinian state, to call for a banning of Israeli settlement produce in the Irish market, and to call for an end to the illegal blockade of Gaza.
Originally from Gaza, Ibrahim Natil is currently a Visiting Scholar at the School of Politics and International Relations, University College Dublin. Dr. Natil will talk about the work of community organisations in Gaza, the situation of women and children, displaced families and their rights to rebuild their homes under International Law. He established the non-governmental organisation Society Voice Foundation in 2001. Its mission is to empower the Palestinian civil society in the field of peace building, human rights, women’s empowerment and democracy development issues. Since it was established it has initiated 45 different civil society projects.
The talk will take place in Nenagh Pastoral Centre on Friday the 12th of February at 7:30 pm. There is no entry fee and all are welcome.
