Toomevara Poet on Stage in Paris
Toomevara native, poet and translator Seamus Hogan is on the stage in one of the world’s great bookshops Shakespeare & Co in Paris on March 16th next.
He and fellow translators Ailin Becker and Sean O Mahony will share their experiences of translating the great German language poet R. M. Rilke into English. The book ‘Rainer Maria Rilke 30 Selected poems’ was published last autumn in the UK by The Eblana Press.
They will be joined by the well known Macedonian poet and translator Nikola Madzirov. The Parisien venue is one of a series of evenings (which are currently being finalised) for the Rilke translators which will also take in venues in England and Ireland. Last summer Seamus and fellow translator Sean O Mahony read a selection of poems from the book in Country Choice, Nenagh.
Hogan’s next collection of his own work, Grey Smoke Against A Grey Sky is due out from Eblana later this year.
