Joyous garden festival in Nenagh
Joy, happiness and merriment rang out in Nenagh Community Wellness Garden recently with three days of workshops, family picnics, pizza making and gentle music accompaniment, which only added to the occasion so richly lavished with wonderful weather.
The inaugural Garden Fest attracted a broad range of people as had been hoped, having only been organised over a month before to test the waters, so to speak.
The joy of seeing Geraradine Wisdom's wonderful rush works on display in the garden and in particular her wonderful horse, which seems to capture the attention of young and old alike.
Susannah O’Reilly’s workshop on silkscreen printing, which produced T-shirts and bags with the garden logo, were a great favourite, making something yourself!
Geraradine Wisdom's workshop was making rush work items, again an interactive piece, where people got lost in time.
Michael O’Meara stepped out from his role as a councilor and gave an insightful, informative and engaging piece on his relationship with beekeeping, truly educational.
Friday saw Philip Quinn engage hands in making simple but decorative wooden chairs, but he also found time to engage in a bit of stone carving and helped tend to the pizza oven from time to time.
All in all, Garden Fest was a joy; new people came to the garden, old friends visited, families visited and folks stopped to ask what was going on.
But to everyone who asked a question, walked in to look around, took part in a work shop, made a donation of any kind, wished us well, had a picnic or had some role to play in organising Garden Fest 2016, thank you.
A final note: Nenagh Community Wellness Garden is a space for people to be able to take time out for themselves - five minutes or five seconds - it’s there for you.
