Green light for North Tipp nursing home
Tipperary Co Council has granted conditional planning permission for an 86-bedroom nursing home in Borrisoleigh.
LKD Developments Ltd of Co Cavan is to provide the facility at Pallas Street. It is understood that the €10 million plan will result in the creation of 40-50 core jobs, with construction employment during the 12-month building phase.
The purpose-built, 86-bedroom, two-storey nursing home will involve utilising and upgrading an existing vehicular access along with the provision of car parking.
The development is to take place at the rear and partially within the curtilage of the former Convent of Mercy building, which is a Protected Structure.
The council received several submissions on the plan. Among the conditions of planning imposed, the council has required the developers to employ an archaeologist to monitor all groundworks, particularly in relation to the accessway, which is in proximity to an ancient ring fort.
