Nenagh coffee morning for kids charity
A coffee morning and bric-a-brac sale will take place in Nenagh on Saturday November 5th between 10am and 1pm in St Mary’s Church (Church of Ireland), Church Road.
Visitors will be treated to tea/coffee along with homemade cakes and scones. The coffee morning is in aid of the Zest4Kidz charity, which assists children living in desperate circumstances in disadvantaged parts of the world. A volunteer-run Christian charity, Zest4Kidz runs camps for children, trains counsellors, supports educational projects and meets medical needs in the countries where it operates.
In Uganda, Zest4Kidz has been continuously raising funds for a hospital that opened last summer in the eastern district of Kumi.
Grace Langley is in Transition Year at Villiers School, Limerick, and is taking on the task of raising funds for this charity as part her Community Group module. The project centres on fundraising for the children's orthopaedic unit at Kumi hospital where all money raised will be used to fund orthopaedic operations for young children.
Children with disabilities such as clubfoot are often seen as cursed in their communities. Zest4Kidz aims to provide funding (€400 per operation) to ensure that these children receive the medical aid they need. This operation will not only change the life of the child but the family and wider community also.
Grace is one of 27 students involved in the Community Group. Next Easter they will travel to northern Spain to take part in a leg of the Camino de Santiago pilgrim walk to help raise further funds this project. All support is gratefully appreciated.
