Landowners respond over Ballina bridge
Lead local authority Clare Co Council has served 110 notices to treat on landowners ahead of the planned construction of a new bridge between Ballina and Killaloe.
A recent district meeting of Tipperary Co Council was informed that around 75% of landowners on both sides of the Shannon have responded and valuations are currently being agreed.
District Director Marcus O'Connor said the authorities are putting pressure on the Government to proceed with construction of the new bridge, which is one of three phases of the €42 million project, which also includes a bypass of Killaloe and upgrade of the road between Ballina and Birdhill. It is estimated that the bridge itself will cost €14 million.
