Storytime at Nenagh Library!

Wednesday April 12th was another busy day in Nenagh Library as we 'Sprang into Storytime' and held our colouring & arts 'n' crafts blitz, a daylong event with three different storytelling sessions.

Starting early in the morning, the children got busy crafting and colouring, and our picture gallery gradually filled with their artistic efforts with staff kept busy framing their Springtime masterpieces. Parents joined the children for our storytime sessions at 11am, 12.30pm and 2pm, and all enjoyed the wonderful tales.

It was time to take a break from ferrying kids everywhere over the Easter holidays and hear from library staff about the wide choice of lovely books that are available to children of all ages at their local library. We talked about how in Ireland of 2017 it is rare indeed to be able to do something for your children that will benefit them and yet cost a parent nothing. To begin reading to your child at a young age, to join them at their local library costs nothing, but it pays dividends when it comes to children's literacy and how they get on in their primary school career.
Of course, we also took the opportunity to tell parents that we had something for them as well - the fact that it was now free for everyone to join their library, that being joined in one library meant that you were a member of every library in the country (except Cork city libraries) with the added bonus that one could borrow in any library and return to the most convenient library.
So, something for everyone at their local library!
