Fáilte Isteach language group celebration in Nenagh.

End of term for English language groups in Nenagh and Roscrea

Fáilte Isteach groups in Nenagh and Roscrea recently celebrated the end of a very successful term, with awards being presented to students and tutors in recognition of their hard work.

Fáilte Isteach is a community project that brings students and volunteer tutors together every week to practice and learn English in a fun and relaxed environment.

There was a great turnout for the end of term parties, held on Monday May 22nd in Roscrea’s Youth Café and Tuesday May 23rd in the Hibernian Inn, Nenagh. Both events were organised by Karolina Woznicka, Community Development Worker with North Tipperary Leader Partnership. Over 40 learners turned up, as well as 16 volunteer tutors.

Before the celebrations began, Karolina gave special thanks to the volunteer tutors: Clare Hanly, Kay McGrath, Alice Balachandran, Margaret Bergin, Breada Lynch, Delia Ho, Eamon Ryan, Joan Naughton, Brian Pope, Elizabeth O’Dowd, Teresa Gleeson, Frances Fogarty, Mary Callanan, Toni Brophy, Andy and Franny Younghusband, Maureen Hogan, Deirdre Hamilton, Helen Walsh, Angela Aherne, Henry Deane and Pádraig Ó Flannabhra. She also thanked all the learners and presented each with a certificate.

“Fáilte Isteach classes have been a great success with over 75 students having attended in both locations” says Karolina. “Students enjoy the informal and friendly atmosphere and the chance to make friends with tutors and other learners from a range of different backgrounds.

“We want to say a huge thank you to everyone involved, including the Hibernian Inn, Kickback Youth Café and the Third Age Foundation”.
