Nenagh Mayor presents Awards to Future Soccer Stars
For the third year in a row, children from two housing estates in Nenagh took part in Summer Soccer Camps from the 14th – 18th August.
The camps were coordinated by Nenagh AFC’s Jonathan Delaney who commented: “I am delighted to once again coach the kids at the third annual Ballygraigue & Ormond Summer Soccer Camps. This is a fantastic project which aims to give kids a productive outlet through sport and takes place right on their doorstep. The progression in development of the players is clear to see and the bonds built through the Soccer Camps have formed lasting friendships. The community really has come together to deliver a fun-filled week for all.”
Mayor of Nenagh Muncipal District, Councillor John Carroll presented medals at an award ceremony following a week long programme of activity including an inter-estate tournament: “I am thrilled to be here today at this terrific local community event. It really is wonderful to see so many young people involved in this initiative. Furthermore, I wish to compliment Clúid Housing, An Garda Síochána and Tusla for working together to make this happen. It is a wonderful example of partnership and community building.”
The Mayor was also on hand to help residents from Ormond Drive and Ballygraigue Court judge the Dog Show. A family fun day topped off the celebrations in the town.
