Storm Ophelia - update from Tipperary Co Council
The Crisis Management Team is continuing to meet throughout the day with further teleconference calls between TCC, HSE and Gardaí.
• TCC Customer Services desks are fully staffed and taking calls at 0761 06 5000. Senior Fire Staff are on duty and addressing calls through the 999 system.
• Outdoor staff are in position at their depots and ready to respond following the passing of the storm.
• Updates are issuing to the public, media and elected members through a range of sources including e-mail, text messaging, website and social media.
• Early effects in Tipperary are being witnessed in the southern part of the county with reports of numerous fallen trees and power outages in a number of rural areas.
• A power outage at the Ardfinnan water scheme is impacting on the provision of water supplies at that location. Position is being assessed by water services staff.
• Critically important that all members of the public stay indoors over the next few hours and under no circumstances should anyone attempt to use chainsaws and approach fallen lines.
• Road closure updates will continue to be posted to the council’s website and social media sites.
