Joint training exercise for Nenagh Ormond Search Unit

Nenagh Ormond Search Unit welcomed colleagues from Mourne River Search & Rescue to Nenagh recently for a weekend of joint training exercises.

The scenarios were both land and water. A land search was conducted for a missing person, deploying teams to search an area with swift response, locating the casualty and extracting them from the search area by stretcher.

This was followed by a water-based exercise, an introduction to swift water rescue using techniques such as self-rescue and defensive swimming. This training was new to the unit and everyone was impressed by the professionalism of Mourne River Search & Rescue. Both units worked seamlessly in the different scenarios.

We would like to thank Mourne River Search & Rescue for visiting and we look forward to our return trip in the new year. This is a fine example of cross-border co-operation. #nobordersinsearchandrescue.
