Launch of Upperchurch-Drombane photo album

There was a packed hall for the recent launch of "'Twas How We Looked", the photo album of the Upperchurch-Drombane area, in Drombane.

The hardback book is a lavish presentation with 600 pages containing 2,500 photos and a colour section showing the outstanding local scenery. The speakers at the launch included Eugene Shortt, Tom Quinlan and Billy Clancy, all representing the local historical society, who produced the book, as well as Fr Tony Ryan PP.

The publication is a great example of community co-operation and is the result of contributions from about 500 households from inside and outside the local area.

The book has been very well received locally with reports of people staying up until 5.30am looking at it on the first night and, with over 500 copies sold in the first 10 days, of the 700 printed it appears likely that it will have fully sold out before Christmas. A hitch with the www.upperchurch.ie website has delayed delivery to online customers but this is being dealt with urgently.
