Burglaries during winter storm in Nenagh district

Burglars appear to have tried to take advantage of the weather alerts over recent days with several break-ins reported in the Nenagh district.

One burglary occurred at Ormond Keep, Nenagh, last Thursday afternoon. The alleged culprit, a local man, was arrested nearby by gardaí, who brought him before a special sitting of Nenagh District Court later that day.

Gardaí in Roscrea are investigating a burglary that occurred in the Copper Beech View area between 1am and 3am last Friday, when a Red weather warning was in effect. Anyone who might have been aware of suspicious activity in the area at that time is asked to contact the gardaí.

Another burglary occurred at Sallygrove, Nenagh, in the early hours of the same morning. A number of items were stolen. Gardaí arrested a suspect that afternoon and recovered some of the stolen items. The suspect has been charged and is to appear before Nenagh District Court this Friday.

There was also a break-in at a pharmacy in Toomevara between midnight and 3am on Friday. The shop was damaged but nothing substantial was taken; gardaí are again appealing for witness information.

Meanwhile, gardaí have seized property that may have been stolen from the Sallygrove/Bulfin Crescent area in Nenagh in recent days. People living in the area are asked to check their sheds to see if anything is missing.

Also recently recovered are two mountain bikes, which were found at Hanly's Place, Nenagh, last Friday. Gardaí are seeking public help in establishing the ownership of the bicycles.

Gardaí are advising members of the farming community to be vigilant of opprtunistic thieves following the recent theft of a horse box at Youghalarra.   

Elsewhere, a male was detected driving at high speed on the M7 outside Nenagh at Clashnevin last Tuesday. He has been charged with dangerous driving and is to appear before Nenagh District Court on March 16th.
