Local Stables in form at Gowran Park

On a scorching hot day which saw the going changed from good to firm at Gowran Park on Saturday, punters following local stables would have come out on top in the their battle with the bookmakers as John O'Shea, Eoin Doyle and Joseph O'Brien all came up trumps.

Not only that but Henry de Bromhead and Shay Barry who also consider Gowran Park to be their local meeting and weighed in with a couple of more victories.

Denis Hogan and Stephen Ryan flew the North Tipperary flag however placed efforts were as much as they could muster on this occasion.

Hogan, whose yard is in great form, was represented by the well supported Storm Rising in the two mile maiden hurdle and looked a shade unlucky not to collect. Always in the firing line, Storm Rising was going like a winner jumping the final flight but was reeled in close home by the Henry de Bromhead runner Due Reward and went under by a neck, the pair finishing no less than nine lengths clear of the third finisher Kaatskill Nap.

Having finished second at both Limerick and Listowel, Hogan's charge is ultra consistent and looks nailed on to shed his maiden tag sooner rather than later.
