Holycross 3-11 (AET)

Toomevara eventually managed to kill off a strong Holycross effort in a game which required extra time to separate two evenly matched teams in this County Junior 'A' League final last Saturday afternoon.
The game was played in searingly hot conditions and both teams deserve a lot of credit for the fitness levels and energy produced throughout the 80 minutes, with some excellent scoring being produced by both sets of forwards.
In the early stages though it looked as though Toome were adapting to the hard surface and heat the quickest, as they raced into a 0-5 to 0-2 lead in the first quarter, with four points coming from play and had they taken two early goal chances that were thwarted by first, Siobhan Maher, and then the left-hand post, they could have taken early control.
But Holycross soon kicked into gear with Siobhan Ryan in fine form from placed balls and when Stephanie Dwan found the net in the 23rd minute after plucking a high ball from the air one on one with her marker, Holycross were back in it and motoring well.
