Killaloe swimmer for Para-European Championships

A swimmer from Killaloe has qualified to compete in the 2018 Para-European Championships being held in the National Aquatic Centre in Dublin from July 13th to 20th.

Johathan Mc Grath says the fact that the event is being staged in Ireland is a massive opportunity to put para-swimming on a pedestal in the country and give young aspiring para-swimmers the opportunity to come and see their role models compete in person.
On Tuesday of last week, Jonathan was among eight swimmers who were selected at the team announcement at Swords Castle in Dublin.
Over 500 swimmers from 40 countries will participate with some of the best para-swimmers in the world coming to Ireland to take part in the prestigious event.
Jonathan from is no stranger to competing at international level, having first competed at a European Championship in Reykavik in 2009 and at the London 2012 Paralympic Games.

"Representing Ireland on the international stage is a tremendous honour, and it’s extra special to do so in front of a home crowd. It’s the stuff of dreams being able to showcase elite para-swimming," Jonathan told The Guardian.
