Finn and Hogan in form at different venues

It proved to be a good week for followers of local stables as Jimmy Finn and Denis Hogan were among the winners while Tipperary staged a fine mixed card on Thursday with several favourites obliging.

That in a nutshell sums up the premier county action as the sun blazed down on racegoers and as the dry spell continued it is posing a problem for most tracks in their efforts to come up with ground without jar.

The Golden Tornado mare Mysloegin ended a long losing sequence over hurdles when she put her best foot forward to capture the two mile and four mares maiden hurdle at Wexford on Friday evening for the Jimmy Finn stable.

A heavily supported favourite, the six-year-old was given a peach of a ride by Rachael Blackmore as she settled her mount on the tail of the leaders before driving her to the front at the second last flight and keeping her up to her work to defeat Augusta Gold by a length and threeparts.

This was a brave effort by Mysloegin who is already a bumper winner, and it will be interesting to see what mark the handicapper gives her. There are few riding as well as Ms Blackmore at the present time. Horses seem to go well for her so it is no surprise to see her in such demand by trainers the length and breath of the country.
