Hurling fans forced to choose

North Tipperary GAA Board's coffers could be hit to the tune of €7,000 due to the scheduling of their two senior hurling championship semi-finals for the same evening.

The two semi-finals have been fixed for Friday, 27th July with Nenagh Eire Og v Kiladangan meeting in Templederry at 7.15pm while at the same time in Dolla, Kilruane MacDonaghs clash with Toomevara.

However, attempts to bring forward one of the games to a midweek date (such as Mid Board have done with their senior semi-final between Thurles Sarsfields and JK Brackens fixed for next Wednesday 25th July) have floundered as no two of the four clubs were in agreement to do so.

Attempts were also made to get one of the games moved to the Saturday evening, 28th July, but the scheduling of the Tipperary under 21 hurlers All Ireland semi-final against Galway for the following Saturday 4th August (2.00pm) in Ennis saw their management not keen to have some of their players playing even closer to that big encounter.

Nenagh Eire Og currently have Jake Morris on the panel while Kiladangan have Barry Hogan and Billy Seymour involved. Kilruane MacDonaghs have the biggest under 21 contingent in Cian Darcy, Jerome Cahill and Craig Morgan, all of home who could start in the All Ireland semi-final, while Toomevara have no representation on the panel.
