Thurles and Killavilla set the early pace in Premier Division

By James Kirwan

Defending champions Thurles Town and Killavilla United continue to set the pace in the early stages of the North Tipperary & District League premier division

Thurles Town continued their winning start to the season after a comfortable 4-1 win over Kieran Curran’s Portumna at the Greyhound Stadium last Thursday.

A brace from vaptain Robbie Jordan got the hosts into an early two goal lead while Micheál Foley and Dylan Gayson rounded off the scoring for their side. Ger Ward grabbed a consolation for the away side.

Paul Kirwan made it two hat-tricks in two games as Killavilla United continued their fine start to the season with a 4-2 away win against Borroway Rovers. A further goal from Craig Phelan was enough to see off Paul Gould’s Rovers side despite Jake Moore and Shane Dunne finding the target.

Nenagh Celtic put the last two disappointing losses behind them on Sunday morning was they won by the odd goal in seven what was a thriller against Holycross in Nenagh College.
