Twelve remain in 2018 Tipperary Cup

A wonderful renewal of the 2018 Thurles Fresh Milk Tipperary Cup dominates the local racing scene at present and the prestigious event delivered thrilling action in Saturday’s quarter-final session where the Pat Guilfoyle trained Music Toour Ears (Droopys Jet/Glideaway Marina) progressed safely to the final twelve despite suffering defeat.

Odds-on favourite for Heat 3 following his smart 28.96 victory a week earlier, he was slow to stride when seeking the rails from Trap 3 but thoroughly impressed thereafter when the renowned early pacer displayed admirable resolve to claim second position beyond halfway when chasing home track regular Boyhero for trainer Pairic Campion at a four length deficit in a fastest of the round 28.83.

His efforts here augur well for his chances in the event as he is a usual fast breaker and a return to that trapping prowess would see him confirm his place as a major outright fancy ahead of the semi-finals this week.

Adopting a more defined complexion following the generous qualifying conditions of round One, the remaining quarter-finals saw two further runners join Boyhero with an unbeaten tag in the event as outright favourite Skywalker Rafa again prevailed while seeking to add to his Juvenile Derby success of last season.
