Introducing the team at Specsavers Nenagh, experts in eyes and ears

THE team at Specsavers Nenagh has been serving the local community with top-class eye and hearing care for 12 years. Since opening on Pearse Street in 2006, the store has become an integral part of Nenagh’s business community and has strived to provide the best level of service and expertise in hearing and optical care for the locality.

Led by store directors Orlagh Moynihan and Sandra Cooke, who both joined Specsavers at the age of 19 as part time Saturday workers, have since gone on to have successful careers at Specsavers Nenagh. Under their supervision, the store offers an unparalleled optical service that caters for all sectors of the market; from kids to the fashion-conscious male and female glasses wearer, those seeking glasses for work or other lifestyle purposes, to contact lens wearers, ensuring customers receive the best possible care and advice for all their optical needs.

Starting as a team of four, the professional team at Specsavers Nenagh now comprise fourteen staff. many of whom are from the locality. The team includes three optoms, Trina Staunton, Daniel Casey, and store director Sandra Cooke; three dispensing opticians, store director Orlagh Moynihan, Emma Rolls and Dimi Gavilovskis; six optical assistants Michelle Byrne (Cert 4 qualification), Criona Cantwell, Liija Magar, and Laura McCormack - all of who are local to Tipperary. – along with Mary Simms, Mary Quinlivan and Shelia Simms who complete the team as the store’s lab manager.

Store director at Specsavers Nenagh, Orlagh Moynihan says, ‘At Specsavers Nenagh, we are dedicated to raising awareness of the importance of regular sight tests, which are a vital part of an individual’s overall health check. Since opening in 2006, we have grown significantly, have undergone a number of improvements and are committed to providing the local community with access to the latest technology as well as in-store expertise from knowledgeable optometrists and audiologists.’

Specsavers Nenagh offers customers PRSI optical benefits, which are available to both employed and self-employed workers. Under the new PRSI treatment benefit, anyone who has been employed or self-employed in Ireland for two years, is now entitled to a free eye test as well as a free pair of glasses or contribution to a pair of frames at Specsavers Nenagh.

In addition to being experts in eye health, Specsavers Nenagh also specialises in hearing with an on-site hearing centre, overseen by local audiologist Kathleen Hickey.  The store provides free three-minute hearing screenings, with no need to book an appointment and the screener lets customers know whether they would benefit from a full hearing test, which takes about an hour.

Specsavers Nenagh is a local community optician and hearing centre, where supporting local clubs and charities is a key part of the store’s culture.  The store fundraises throughout the year for Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin and the National Council for the Blind, Ireland and is the main sponsor of the Silvermines Ladies Football team. 

Specsavers in Nenagh is open daily except for Sundays. Its standard hours are 9:00am-5:30pm daily, with a later opening time of 9.30am on a Tuesday.
