Intermediates feeding off Tipp's rising tide

Take note, Tipperary camogie is on the up and that’s a fact that cannot be ignored.
Last Sunday the county’s U16 ‘A’ and ‘B’ team’s were in action in their respective All Ireland semi-finals and this weekend the county have two further teams, the seniors and intermediates contesting their respective All Ireland semi-finals.
The progress of the intermediate team is a surprise having last reached a semi-final in 2012 only to be denied a place in the final by a very strong Derry outfit. They have had a lot of mixed fortunes after that, in some years not fielding, but in 2016 they beat Cork in the Munster final their first provincial title since 2009.
This year after topping group 2, they face Down in the semi-final to determine who goes on to the big stage in Croke Park on Sunday 9th September to face either Cork or Galway.
Tipperary went through the group stages unbeaten, beginning with a draw away to Galway. Since then it has been all wins against Westmeath, Kilkenny and Kildare, while receiving a walkover from Antrim.
Down finished runners-up in the other group, losing only to Cork, while recording wins over Laois and Carlow and being held to a draw by Derry.
Players Tipp need to be wary off include Saoirse Sands, Lizzie Wilson, Niamh Mallon, Fionnuala Carr and Dearbhla Magee.
Tipperary are under the wing of the senior management team so at any evening in training there are big numbers and a strong environment for both senior and intermediates to prepare in.
