Reigning County and Munster champions Burgess/Duharra are on course for the knockout stages of the senior championship once more after they had a comfortable six point victory over their neighbours Silvermines on Saturday evening in round 2.

The All Ireland club finalists had way too much power and experience for the 'Mines who are back up senior after nine years, and led 3-4 to 0-5 at the break.

For the 'Mines, Garaldine Stapleton worked hard to keep the ball back out field and she was supported well by the midfield pairing of Nicola Butler and Emer Tuohy with Aisling Carey working very hard in the forwards.

But Burgess/Duharra are not six in a row champions and back-to-back Munster winners for no reason as Gemma Grace served up a fine performance along with Trish O’Halloran who lorded the centre back position. Ciara McKeogh in midfield covered a lot of ground while the entire six forwards, in particular Emily Morrissey, broke Silvermines hearts.
