A Championship a long time coming

When a big job needs to be done in Kilruane MacDonaghs, Liam O'Shea has the Midas touch.

In his first stint as manager he guided Kilruane MacDonaghs back out of the intermediate ranks in 2003 and now fifteen years later he is at the helm as the clubs wait for another North Senior Hurling title finally came to an end in the 28th year.

“Way too long, it has been a long time coming,” admitted the Kilruane manager.

“The desire today was more on our side and that could be true of Kiladangan who have been there for the last 3-4 years and have a fantastic team that have given a lot over the last few years and sometimes when you win fairly often, sometimes the edge can go off you and maybe that's the way they were today but I wouldn't dismiss Kiladangan going forward into the county championship.”

This was a win borne out of the Kilruane MacDonaghs way, hard work and getting the basics and right and that is what made Sunday's win ever more special.

“That was the thing we were striving for a lot of the time,” O'Shea said regarding the performance.
