Irish Greyhound Board announces €180,000 upgrade to core Race Management System
The Irish Greyhound Board has announced an upgrade to its Race Management System (RMS) worth €180,000.
The RMS system is used to build races and to pay owners and trainers in Clonmel and Thurles, as well as the 15 other greyhound tracks on the island of Ireland and at the IGB’s head office in Limerick.
The announcement is in line with the IGB’s Strategic Plan 2018-22, which is committed to maximising the use of information and communication technology and providing improved digital facilities, in line with customer expectations.
Made To Engage, based in Belfast, Dublin and London, has won the tender for the first phase of developing the new system.
Director of Tote Wagering with the Irish Greyhound Board, Joe Lewins, commented: “The RMS system is an integral part of the IGB and a modern greyhound industry. The first version of the system was published in 2006 and, like all other aspects of developing technology, it has grown rapidly since then. The system will retain all existing functionality, nothing will change in that regard, but the software redevelopment will help continue the IGB’s progression into a paperless system. This will further enhance operational effectiveness and continue to improve customer experience.”
He added: “The IGB’s Strategic Plan 2018-2022, published earlier this year, targeted maximising the use of information and communication technology. The upgrade and redevelopment of the RMS system will achieve exactly that. The new system will allow us to continue to feed the best greyhound racing content to our own website and to our overseas partners via web services.”
