Stormy Air still blowing for Hogan
Stormy Air from the Denis Hogan yard, who was a winner over a mile at Cork a week earlier, returned to the venue on Wednesday last to land the seven furlong apprentice handicap in the hands of Killian Hennessy.
Shouldering a hefty 9st 10lbs, the Bated Breath gelding was dropped out in the early stages but came with a well timed challenge in the straight to hit the front inside the final furlong and in spite of coming off a straight line landed the spoils by half a length from Ishagati to whom he was conceding 9 lbs.
Out of the Rainbow Quest mare, Stormy Air was bred by Juddmonte Farms was and purchased by Hogan at the Newmarket horses in training sales in February 2017 for £4000. It has proven to be money well spent as his two victories have netted more than twice that amount. He will now have to take a step up in class but given the stamina on his dams side, trips in excess of a mile could well be within his range.
