A late smash and grab act propelled Nenagh Ormond to second successive one point win as they claimed a bonus-point victory against Queens University last Saturday afternoon.

Looking dead and buried going into the final minutes after being completely outplayed in the second period by their northern opponents, Ormond showed outstanding composure as they went through countless phases of ball in hand, before their set piece set up John Hayes to pull the victory out of the hat with a try deep into second half added time.

Nenagh had to dig really deep for this one and despite having played up a storm in the opening half with three tries and some really solid play, it was the defensive end of things that was keeping the scoreline tight, with Queens still managing to register 19 points in the first half with a fraction of the ball possession – albeit with some real impressive attacking play.
