Tipp schools learn their fate for knockout stages
The three Tipperary schools remaining in the Dr Harty Cup (Munster Senior 'A' hurling) have learned who their opponents are for the quarter finals in January.
Nenagh CBS would seem to have drawn the short straw in being paired with Christian Brothers College (CBC) from Cork who were impressive in the group stages, including a big win over traditional challengers Thurles CBS.
However, Nenagh recovered well following their opening round loss to St Colman's Fermoy by defeating defending champions Ardscoil Ris from Limerick before accounting for Gaelscholaiste North Mon from Cork in the last round to finish second in their group behind St Colman's who have been drawn against De La Salle College, Waterford.
2017 champions Our Lady's Templemore have been drawn against Midleton CBS while Thurles CBS will face Limerick side St John the Baptist Hospital, who had a big win over Templemore in their group stage clash.
The pairings for the semi-finals were also made with Midleton CBS or Our Lady’s Templemore v St John the Baptist Hospital or Thurles CBS on one side of the draw with the other last four game between St Colman’s Fermoy or De La Salle Waterford v Christian Brothers College or Nenagh CBS.
The quarter finals will be played on Wednesday 9th January with the semi-finals down for Saturday 26th January.
In the Senior 'B' championship quarter finals, also on 9th January, Clonmel High School will play Charleville CBS, Abbey CBS Tipperary Town will play Kinsale Community School or St Francis College Rochestown while Cashel Community School will play St Joseph's of Tulla or Colaiste Chriost Ri from Cork.
