Eanna McBride was on target as BT Harps defeated Killavilla in the Tipperary Cup quarter final

Harps impressively end Villa's treble hopes

By Padraig Ryan

BT Harps installed themselves as firm favourites for the Tipperary Cup as they roared into the semi-finals with a stunning 4-1 away win over Premier Division champions Killavilla United on Saturday night.

Joe Moloney had given Villa the lead midway through the first half applying the finishing touch to a lovely Tom Aherne cross before Harps equalised before the break through Johnny Coleman.

Harps dominated the start of the second half and took the lead on 52 minutes when Stevie Nolan scored a wonderful long range effort after his free kick had initially been well blocked by the Villa wall.

Harps didn't rest on their lead and pushed on for the remainder of the half, eventually doubling their advantage with a 40 yard wonder goal from Dean McEnroe.

Despite their best efforts Villa couldn't pull a goal back and the tie was settled ten minutes from time when Harps moves into a three goal lead with a header from Eanna McBride.

A superb performance from Harps who have well and truly put their league and FAI cup disappointments behind them and Johnny Doran's men will fancy their chances against Clodiagh Rangers in the semi-final.
