There is a strong local derby element to this Saturday's Munster Post Primary Schools Senior 'C' Hurling final between Borrisokane Community College and St Anne's Community College, Killaloe.
The Killaloe side are back-boned by a strong contingent from Ballina who will be familiar with the Lower Ormond men from their juvenile hurling days with Borrisokane's panel containing players from eight different clubs, including one from Portumna.
Borrisokane will go into the game as favourites as they have dominated all-comers on route to the final with their closest margin of victory being twelve points, coming in the semi-final victory over Colaiste an Phiarsaigh from Glanmire.
In the group stage, Borrisokane defeated Carrick-on-Suir CBS 8-17 to 0-9 before accounting for Salesian College, Pallaskenry in round two 1-18 to 0-7.
In the last 16, Borrisokane defeated St Declan's from Kilmacthomas 1-15 to 0-3 before taking care of Colaiste Treasa Kanturk 5-14 to 1-8 in the quarter finals.
St Anne's Community College's games were much closer, starting out with wins over Ard Scoil na Mara Tramore (1-15 to 1-12) and Clonakilty Community College (3-14 to 0-19). In the last sixteen, they defeated Scoil Ruain Killenaule 1-12 to 0-11 before defeating Salesian College 3-9 to 1-14 in the quarter final, a common opponent for both sides which Borrisokane made easier work of.
However, the Killaloe school reserved their best performance of the campaign for the semi-final where they defeated Causeway Comprehensive from Kerry 1-20 to 1-6.
