Divisional club plans up in the air
Plans to play divisional hurling championship games on 30-31 March now appear unlikely following an intervention from Tipperary inter-county management.
All four divisional boards had made provisional plans to play games on the last weekend in March, provided the Tipperary senior footballers failed to progress to an Allianz League Division 2 final on 31 March.
However, County CCC chairman Joe Kennedy informed delegates at last Tuesday's County Board meeting that Tipperary senior management were concerned about the workload on inter-county players following the completion of the Allianz Leagues, then facing into three weekends of club action, with first round games in the county hurling and football championships down for the weekends of 7 & 14 April respectively.
However, the Guardian understands that should the Tipperary senior hurlers exit the Allianz League at an early stage, the County CCC may revisit the situation. The Tipperary senior hurlers will be playing up to Sunday 10th March regardless of reaching a league quarter final or relegation playoff, but if they fail to progress from the quarter final, their campaign will be at an end as the league semi-finals down for 16th March with the final on 24th March, the same day as the senior footballers complete their campaign against Clare.
There will be, however, a small number of divisional championship games that will have to proceed involving Holycross/Ballycahill and Ballingarry in senior hurling and Ballinahinch and Ballybacon/Grange at intermediate level
